This past year has seriously just slipped by me and I can't believe I turned 23. I know it's still young but every year I'm always surprised I'm having another birthday. I don't think I ever saw myself past 18 or what my life would be like. It's weird, but true. Looking back on the past year, it was a pretty great one with some awesome things that happened. I got pregnant, I went to Disney World and saw HARRY POTTER WORLD (I can die happy now), quit my job, went camping, was matron of honour at my sister-in-law's wedding, celebrated my brother-in-law & his wife's pregnancy, gave birth to my sweet daughter and celebrated three year of marriage with my best friend, my hubs. It really was an amazing year! I can't wait for what this upcoming year has in store. I'm looking to the new year with so much hope & ambition and excitement for what it will bring. The most exciting part is watching Liberty grow and just enjoying my new little family.
If there is one thing I'm terrible at though, it's keeping new year's resolutions. I suck at them. That's why I don't make resolutions anymore. Every year I try to make some really vague life-improving goal like eating better, lose weight, start running, etc etc. And every year I fail. So I've gotten over it and just come to terms with the fact that I am not a resolution keeper. Are there any others out there? (Be honest yo.)
However, I rock at completing To Do lists. I like to think it's one of my stronger qualities as a human - I'm totally task oriented. My day is structured around tasks to complete and I. love. it. The type A in me loves checking things off a list and feeling accomplished. So instead of a new year's resolution, I decided to make a 24 Before 24 list for myself. My birthday is a week before New Year's, so they're pretty interchangeable when it comes to goal setting.
Here is my 24 Before 24 To Do List:
1. Finish "Wreck This Journal."
2. Sew an apron.
3. Take a baby swim class with Liberty.
4. Get a new tattoo.
5. Finish "Finish This Book."
6. Read 12 new books.
7. Go camping.
8. Complete living room decorating.
9. Try 24 new recipes.
10. Sew a quilt.
11. Complete a pencil drawing/sketch.
13. Dream up a product line.
14. Crochet a granny square afghan.
15. Go bike riding.
16. Paint. Anything. Just paint.
17. Complete 1 year of The 5 Year Journal.
18. Donate blood.
19. Get a plant and don't kill it!
21. Sew a shirt I will wear.
22. Take an e-course.
23. Shoot & develop a roll of film.
24. Get pregnant.
I'm tracking all my goals over on this awesome site, Go Mighty. It's a place to create life lists and I actually first read about it from Anne at Anne The Adventurer. I love everything about it! You'll find a couple more goals on there I have going on also. If you take a look over at my right sidebar, you'll see a nifty button where you can follow My Mighty List.
So did you make yourself any goals or resolutions for the upcoming year? Or just this month maybe? Sometimes goals are easier to accomplish when the time frame is shorter!
(and just a picture of Liberty from Christmas, because I can. Isn't her treats sleeper stinkin' cute?! Dead from cute.)
