Season of Happy // Week 4

It’s been a busy season of life over here. It seems I have about 20 projects on the go at once, and some things have to take a back seat. The blog was one of them! Hopefully things will slow down and I can get you guys more posts. Life just gets so busy!

I shared my pages from weeks 2&3 on my Instagram, but they never made it on to here. Maybe later I’ll share an update of my pages from then.

Regardless, here are this week’s pages. I followed the prompts loosely but ultimately ended up creating more (and finishing a few mid-progress) pages in my altered book. The more I create, the more I find I’m really liking smaller format journals. This book is 4″x 6″, and it’s so great to create in. Maybe it’s because it has less space to fill, so it goes faster and feels less intimidating.

I did get one page down in my black journal. The prompt was related to Inside Out, and I tried to capture my emotions in a visual way. I made sadness and happy/love larger than the rest because those two emotions are the most dominating for me.

I actually completed this page probably a month ago (?) and just haven’t gotten around to sharing it. It was a way to use up some of my tester papers. Does anyone else feel guilty throwing away paper with paint on it?! I hoard mine in a file organizer, haha. It’s super useful for making collages and mixed media pages.

Seeing the previous page again inspired me to try the same visual layout but with a different colour/feeling. I had painted this page black a while ago, and stenciled it, then left it. The papers I used were a combination of bleached paper, and discarded gelli plate prints. (Don’t know about Gelli Plates? You are missing out immensely. Go. Read. Become addicted like the rest of us) I love how this one turned out and how the colours/patterns dramatically change the mood, despite being a very similar layout to the previous page.

This is also an old page from probably January? Sometimes pages don’t need to be fancy or heavily altered. I like a super plain page like this in between all the other more busy ones.

That’s the whole lot! At least for this week šŸ™‚ I’ll be back next week to share this month’s tiny journal, as part of A Tiny Series: Year of Petite Art Journals.
